Blogoncherry.com - The film ’2016: Obama’s America’ surprisingly surges to the seventh place in top 10 box office movies of the US.

The film tells about a tragedy that comes upon the people of the US as Barack Obama wins the 2012 presidential election.

Over the past week, this film has been able to gain about USD 6.5 million. As more Republicans are curious to watch the film, it is now being distributed to around 1,091 theaters nationwide.

Produced by Gerald R. Molen, this documentary film was created based on the India-born Dinesh D’Souza’s “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” that becomes New York bestseller book.

The Box Office Mojo wrote the anti-Obama film “is one of the best weekends ever for a political documentary, and only falls behind the first few frames for Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11”.

As of August 30, 2012, the film has a 50% rating at the Rotten Tomatoes, based on 14 reviews. The film also has average reviews at Metacritic.

Steven Rea of the Philadelphia Inquirer said the film is “disturbing, but dubious.” In the meantime, Jackie Cooper wrote “the film is certainly anti-Obama but it does provide food for thought for the undecided.”

Beth Fouhy of the Associated Press pointed out that the film has several factual inaccuracies and it is “almost entirely subjective and a logical stretch at best” to say that Obama’s government is a reflection of his father’s point of view towards politics.

Meanwhile, Bill Goodykoontz of the Arizona Republic said the film has a Michael Moore’s style but with less humor and only presents one-side view. He also said the anti-Obama film is hard to change the mind of the people.
