India’s former Mr. Universe has turned 100 but he has not displayed much regression physically.
Manohar Aich celebrated his 100th birthday last Saturday in Kolkata, India. The Pocket Hercules as people call him, is only 150 centimeters tall, but he is obviously really pungent.
He revealed his secret for his longevity is happiness. He said he never allowed any kind of tension to surround him.
“I remained happy even though I had to struggle to earn money since my young days,” he said.
A big feast was held to celebrate the person who grabbed the 1952 Mr. Universe title. Along with all of his family including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the muscle man said a positive mental attitude also contributed to his longevity.
He also said that he never smoked cigarettes and took booze during his entire life. He joined the Royal Air Force when India was still one of the British’ colonies in the 1940s.
When he was jailed for protesting the colonialism, he started to build those enormous muscles.
“In jail I used to practice on my own, without any equipment, sometimes for 12 hours in a day,” he explained.
In 1950, he won the Mr. Hercules contest. In 1951 he finished second in the Mr. Universe competition, but in 1952 he managed to secure the title.
Today, he has a gym to run with his sons. Despite his great achievement, there is one dream that still has not been fulfilled: meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger!
