A Spanish 85 years old duchess is estimated to be worth up to $5 billion. The duchess of Alba whose name is, are you ready, here it is, Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fits-James Stuart y de Silva (one name) is the wealthiest woman in Spain.
The duchess wants to marry the man she loves Alfonso Diez, a civil servant, 24 years younger than she is. Sounds like the civil servant is planning to get away with something? To make sure that Alfonso isn’t doing just for the money but genuinely loves the duchess, she will give all her fortune to six of her children. The six children are against the marriage at the time. They don’t know that the duchess is giving out her fortunes to them.
The duchess remarked, “Alfonso doesn’t want anything. All he wants is me.”
When news breaks out about the wealthiest woman is about to marry, the internet flooded with “duchess marries” and “Spain duchess fortune” searches.
All the six of her children are from her first marriage to Pedro Luis Martinez de Irujo y Artazcoz, son of the Duke of Sotomayor who died in 1972. Then the duchess remarried 6 years later with a former priest named Jesus Aguirre y ortiz de Zarate. He died as well in 2001.
The duchess, although twice married and is coming up with her third luck at the age of 85, had never been divorced. Meanwhile, her children all have been divorced or separated in some way. She loves to rub that fact if the children will show up at the wedding.
According to a publisher in England she has bought each and every one of her children and grandchildren a palace each to shut them up.
