Colored contact lenses are one of the best things that happened couple of years ago. People could change their appearance just by putting on a pair of blue contact lenses. Even a pair of soccer colored lenses for those crazy soccer fans are available, not to forget Lady Gaga’s crazy colored eyes.
Now in India, Shekhar Eye Center sells extraordinary diamond encrusted lenses. For those who love accessories these lenses are the ones you should try. The lenses are magnificent. People will literally look like having a pair of diamond eyes. For a whopping $15.000 you could get the eyes that literally light up the room.
Dr. Chandrashekhar Chawan had the idea after his wife implanted a stone in her teeth like rappers. His new line of eye jewellery features 18 diamond yellow or white gold ring around the lenses. Chawan hopes to sell outside India. Experts in the other hand are skeptical about the safety of the diamond lens. As you know diamonds are used to cut glasses. In fact, heavy duty drill have diamonds on them.
“I don’t know if they’re comfortable and I don’t know if they’re healthy,” said Sal Riggo a licensed optician.
“When they’re FDA approved and distributed in this country then we’ll learn about them, but it sounds ridiculous and unreasonable to me,” Riggio said.
“It’s a cumbersome, bulky lens, which has to be filled with saline solution and then inserted in the eye…The risk-benefit ratio is vastly different than for a person with healthy eyesight,” Dr. Rajesh Khanna, a cornea and refractive surgeon, said.
People take time to get used to new things, when the contact lens came out everybody talked about how the danger of putting something in your eyes. But fashion prevails and people would try to look good at any costs these days.
“If your eyes are sparkling with diamonds, no one can look away; their eyes will be glued to you and your personality,” Doctor Chawan finally said.
